My primary service to clients is that of layering and quilting an unfinished quilt top. However, I also provide binding service to those who desire it. I can provide the batting as a part of my service to you. Other customized quilt related items are available, such as memory quilts, T-shirt quilts,…

The batting should be 4″ larger than the quilt top on all sides. For example, if the top is 60″ x 80″, then the batting should be 68″ x 88″. You may send the batting along with your quilt top or if you choose for me to provide the batting, I generally use Hobbs 80/20.

The backing fabric is provided by the client. It should be squared up and approximately 4″ larger than the top on all sides. For example, if the top is 60″ x 80″, then the backing should be 68″ x 88″. Backing should be pressed prior to dropping off or shipping.

Binding Options

  • Piped Binding – I will prepare, attach, and finish by machine a single layered piped binding for a charge of $0.30 per linear inch.
  • Topstitched Folded Binding – I will prepare and attach to the back a folded binding and then topstitch it on the front for $0.20 per linear inch.
  • Folded Binding – I will prepare and attach a folded binding to the front for a charge of $0.15 per linear inch. The client will be responsible for finishing this binding. It is recommended that this be done by hand.
  • Customer Binding – Customer prepares, attaches, and finishes the binding.

NOTE: Fabric for any of the above binding choices is to be provided by the client.

I usually use Superior Threads; So Fine! is my preference. It is a #50/3 polyester thread. Standard solid colors are included free of charge. Colors not normally stocked and/or specialty threads will increase the cost of the quilting service.

Standard colors include: snow (white), pearl, putty, mushroom, smoke (gray), black, hot chilies (red), rose petal (dusty pink), it’s a girl (pastel pink), pineapple (yellow), mustard, navy, out of the blue (medium dusty blue), it’s a boy! (baby blue), amethyst, thistle, forest (green), fern

Shipping Procedures

Print out and complete a Submission Form. Be sure to sign the form and include it in the package.

If you are sending the backing and batting, DO NOT LAYER THE QUILT. Batting, backing, and top should be separate to achieve the best results. The quilt top should be squared up and pressed prior to shipping. Ideally you have pressed it as you have pieced it. Thread tails should be clipped.

It is recommended that you get insurance on any package that you ship; tracking of the package is also helpful.

PLEASE DO NOT SHIP QUILTS TO ME WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST. This is to insure that I will be prepared to receive them when they arrive. Thank you!
